It's been a little while since my last post. Yes, we survived the week and my husband is home safe and sound. I'm so glad he's back!
It was quite an adventure to get him home though!
He called from Kenora on Monday to tell me that he had done all he felt he could do and wanted to head home on Tuesday. The Greyhound was scheduled to leave at 10:15am and he would arrive home on Wednesday night around 9pm.
I'm not sure why I thought about his ticket, but a little light-bulb went off in my head and I asked him what his return ticket home said..... where are the major stops? According to the Greyhound website, the only itinerary to Belleville travelled the route that went "Kenora-Sudbury-Toronto-Belleville"...... But his ticket said "Kenora-Sudbury-Ottawa-Belleville" This was going to be a problem, since the bus that leaves Ottawa for Belleville would depart 30 minutes before his arrival in Ottawa..... and the next bus wouldn't leave until 4:30pm the next day.
So I went back to the Greyhound website to see what could be done. Luckily there was a bus leaving Kenora that night at 1am and would get him into Ottawa at 7am. That would mean only an 8 hr wait for the bus to Belleville.
I have to admit I was a little ("little" is a understatement") ANGRY that Greyhound would sell him a ticket for an itinerary that technically didn't exist and definatetly didn't connect. Then I did what I normally do, I started making calls.... someone had to be responsible and someone needed to fix it!
Luckily after talking to a lot of people, a nice man at the Sudbury Station changed Bryan's ticket to get him to Toronto. He arrived at 6am and headed for Union Station to catch the VIA train to Belleville. He arrived at 9am in Belleville, where my sister-in-law, so kindly picked him up and brought him home.
Who knew that 5 days away could feel so long.... It felt like a lifetime that he had been away!
At least now we have the rest of the week and a long weekend to get over everything and just spend some much needed time with each other.
